Movies That Made Me Cry...

1) Bukit Kepong

Cerita perjuangan pasukan polis dan masyarakat tempatan di Bukit Kepong, Johor melawan komunis pada tahun 1950. Kemuncak pertempuran berlaku pada 23 Februari di balai polis Bukit Kepong yang mempunyai 18 orang anggota.

Filem ini menggambarkan semangat waja yang ditunjukkan oleh pasukan polis, walaupun mereka diserang oleh 180 orang pengganas komunis, tetapi mereka tetap berjuang hingga ke titisan darah yang terakhir untuk mempertahankan negara.

2) The White Squall

Cerita ni aku tengok kat wayang dgn budak2 kelas A-Level dulu..
Mula2 aku cam minat nak tgk sebab ramai pakwe hensem2 + jambu dlm movie ni..
Sekali tgk2 citer sedih... Memang sedih sangat... about friendship..
Aku nangis masa yang captain tu kena masuk court sebab orang cakap dia responsible for the loss tu.. leleh wohhh..
ada sorang member aku sampai 2, 3 hari pas tgk wayang tu pun dia macam sedih2 lagi sebab teringat cerita ni.

3) A Walk To Remember

Boleh kata bila semua orang yang aku tanya, citer apa yang buat diorg nangis, citer ni mesti ada dalam list.
Citer nih jiwang2 karat lah jugak..
citer biasa2 je actually..
tapi apesal tah sedih gak..
sedih sebab bila diorg dah fall in love tu pastu that girl sakit..
tapi laki tu still nak gak ngan girl tu..
dia kawin + jaga pompuan tu sampai akhir hayat dia..
sedih sangat.. wuuuu.. wuuuu...
oh since citer ni la aku suka sangat dengan shane west..


4) I Am Sam

Sam Dawson has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old. He works at a Starbucks and is obsessed with the Beatles. He has a daughter with a homeless woman; she abandons them as soon as they leave the hospital. He names his daughter Lucy Diamond (after the Beatles song), and raises her. But as she reaches age 7 herself, Sam's limitations start to become a problem at school; she's intentionally holding back to avoid looking smarter than him. The authorities take her away, and Sam shames high-priced lawyer Rita Harrison into taking his case pro bono. In the process, he teaches her a great deal about love, and whether it's really all you need.

Kisah seorang ayah yang memperjuangkan hak untuk menjaga anak perempuannya.
Sedih lah.. zaman sekarang ni kalau bukak paper ada je cerita orang buang anak...
Cerita ni kan.. awal2 cerita lagi aku dah bergenang air mata dah..
yang masa wife dia tinggalkan dia ngan anak dia masa kat bus stand tu..
huhu..
brilliant actors, brilliant actresses, brilliant scripts, brilliant story.. and lots of tears..
Double thumbs up!!!



5) The Pursuit of Happyness

Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner. Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner". He feels like he has made these devices. However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price. On top of that, one of these does not work. As Gardner tries to figure out on how to fix the faulty one and sell the others, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices.


Christopher Gardner: Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right?
Christopher: All right.
Christopher Gardner: You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.

Will Smith is the only reason I watched this movie at first.
But it's a great movie after all.
Macam bagi motivasi pulak.
Tapi part paling sedih masa dia ngan anak dia homeless tu..
and terpaksa tido kat toilet..
masa dia nangis tu aku pun nangis sekali..
oh superb lah Will Smith..



6) Anak Halal

Hisham, seorang penjenayah dalam keadaan tersepit telah menyerahkan bayi lelakinya kepada Mariam, seorang perempuan gila. Penjenayah tersebut telah ditangkap dan dipenjarakan. Mariam yang gila dan hidup di jalanan membesarkan bayi tersebut Inderaputera (Putera) dalam serba kedaifan. Mereka tinggal di kawasan setinggan, berjiran dengan Bu Leha dan anak perempuannya, Johanna (Jo) seorang gadis ‘tomboy’ yang dalam diam menyukai Putera. Namun, kebahagiaan Putera bersama ibunya berakhir apabila mereka dipisahkan oleh pihak berkuasa.

Putera kemudiannya dibesarkan oleh Bu Leha yang membawa Putera dan Jo berpindah ke Kuala Lumpur dengan harapan hidup mereka akan menjadi lebih baik. Putera dan Jo membesar sebagai remaja jalanan. Putera bekerja di bengkel kereta. Manakala, Jo dan ibunya berniaga buah-buahan di Pasar Chow Kit demi sesuap nasi.

Manakala, Erzan dan Amira Atikah pula adalah antara sahabat rapat Putera dan Jo. Mereka telah terjebak dengan penggunaan najis dadah akibat tekanan dan desakan hidup. Amira Atikah yang ketagihan dadah telah melarikan diri dari rumah. Selain mengedar dan menagih dadah, Erzan yang terpaksa menanggung beban hutang tinggalan ayahnya telah menjadi buruan kuncu-kuncu Hisham. Putera begitu sedih dan marah. Putera naik berang pada Hisham dan kuncu-kuncu yang telah menjadi punca kepincangan hidup orang-orang yang disayanginya.

Ya saya menangis tengok cerita ni...
Saya menangis masa part Erzan tu mati kena tembak..
Part2 lain tak sedih pun.. Hehe..
Mungkin sebab masa tu saya emotional (saya tengah pregnant masa tu)..

7) Gone Baby Gone

When 4 year old Amanda McCready disappears from her home and the police make little headway in solving the case, the girl's aunt Beatrice McCready hires two private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. The detective freely admit that they have little experience with this type of case, but the family wants them for two reasons - they're not cops and they know the tough neighborhood in which they all live. As the case progresses, Kenzie and Gennaro face drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they finally solve the case, they are faced with a moral dilemma that tears them apart.

8) The Green Mile

I watched this movie at the cinema dengan Cik Lah.
Aku tak igt masa tu kami still kat Melaka atau dah kat Cyberjaya...
tapi masa tu nak balik rumah hujung minggu..
Sempatlah singgah Sunway Pyramid kejap. Hehe..
Kami taktau pun citer ni pasal apa.
Tapi tengok ada Tom Hanks so kami tengoklah cerita ni.,
Sedih wohh.. kami nangis dalam panggung..
Watak John Coffey tu bagi aku lakonan Michael Clarke Duncan yang paling berkesan lah..


9) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

As she lay dying in a hospital bed on the eve of Hurricane Katrina hitting New Orleans, an elderly woman asks her daughter Caroline to read from a diary left to her by a man named Benjamin. Born on the same day World War I ended, Benjamin Button's mother died giving birth to him. As a newborn, he was old and wrinkled and his horrified father Thomas Button leaves him on the doorstep of an old folk's home. Benjamin fits in well for, despite his young age, he looked as old as most of the residents. Benjamin soon realizes that he is growing younger, not older however. Early on, he meets the love of his life, Daisy, a beautiful red-haired, green-eyed child who grows into a beautiful woman while Benjamin grows into a handsome young man. Their lives take many different turns and making a life together is long in coming. It also is of limited duration given their ultimately different fates.

pastu dah tak ingat siapa dia..
pastu masa Benjamin jadi baby then died tu..
sedihnyaaaa....


10) Papadom

Mengisahkan Saadom adalah seorang pengusaha kedai makan yang terlalu kuat bekerja sehingga berjaya mengejar impian hidupnya, namun dia gagal dalam tanggungjawabnya sebagai suami kepada Munira dan ayah kepada Miasara. Situasi ini berubah apabila Saadom kehilangan isteri kesayangannya yang mati dalam satu kemalangan ketika ingin melihat anaknya menerima anugerah di sekolah selepas suaminya memberikan alasan sibuk. Sebelum itu, Munirah sempat berpesan agar suaminya akan sentiasa menjaga anaknya seperti mana menjaga kerjanya. Sejak itu Saadom tidak lagi seperti dulu, ke mana saja anaknya berada dia sentiasa berada di sisi. Sehinggalah saat berpisah apabila Miasara ditawarkan untuk melanjutkan pelajarannya di IPTA. Miasara tidak lagi mahu ayahnya mengikutnya ke Kuala Lumpur dan mengugut akan berhenti belajar sekiranya tidak patuh arahannya. Saadom akur dengan kehendak anaknya, namun di sebalik itu Saadom punyai rancangan untuk memohon jawatan sebagai tukang kebun di IPTA tempat anaknya belajar agar dapat sentiasa melihat anaknya.

Sebenarnya ni bukan cerita sedih sangat.
Banyak lawak tau..
Gelak-gelak-gelak-gelak pastu tetiba sedih..
Alah macam korang tengok Ibu Mertuaku laa..
awal2 kan kelakar pastu tetiba twist jadik citer sedih plak..
tapi sedih pun takde laa sampai ke hujung cerita..
aku rasa sedih part yang Saadom nangis cakap kat Miasara yang dia rindu kat wife dia tu..

The Scavos

Lynette and Tom Scavo will always be my favourite couple on the Desperate Housewives series.



To me, they do resemble the real life parents, not the perfect ones on the screen.

1. They have kids of different age ranges.
   
2. Their kids are naughty, hilarious, smart, full of tricks, obedient, etc, etc (name anything that has to do with your kids)... and they have their own ways dealing with them.
   
3. They stand for each other during all occasions, ups and downs:
   

• when Tom got fired
• when Tom wants to start a restaurant business
• when Lynette got diagnosed with cancer
• when their son accused for murder
• when Lynette is scared of her getting pregnant with twins again
• ...and the list go on...
  

Tom: I need you to not be perfect.

Lynette: Why?

Tom: Because i'm not perfect.
I'm not... rich.
I'm not brilliant.
I'm not movie star handsome.
If you didn't have this one flaw,
I would spend every moment of every day wondering,
What the heck is she doing with me?

Lynette: You may not be brilliant,
But you can tiptoe through a minefield better than anyone i know.
Well done.





Tom: If you're willing to break up over an ice sculpture, you guys should absolutely not get married. Because who gets to choose the ice sculpture, who should take out the trash, who has to stay home and make the mini pizzas, that's the little stuff. What are you going to do when the big stuff comes along? What are you gonna do when a tornado hits your house, or you have problems with your kids, or one of you gets cancer? Apa Yang Saya Suka Dengan Filem PAPADOM

1. Sebab ada pelakon2 yang yang memang saya minat - Afdlin Shauki, Que Haidar, Norkhiriah dan Liyana Jasmin (tp LJ dlm filem nih mcm over gedik lah)
2. Sebab ini cerita pasal family, bukan cerita cintan-cintun i love u, bukan cerita bunuh2, bukan cerita hantu yang mana saya dah tak layan sangat sekarang.
3. Sebab saya memang suka makan papadom... dalam filem ni ada tunjuk cara2 nak buat papadom...
   
4. Lakonan Afdlin Shauki sebagai seorang bapak yang cool... and loving.. (Note: Saya kalau tgk Aflin Shauki berlakon sedih @ nangis contohnya mcm dalam file Soal Hati dan juga filem Papadom ini rasa touching ahh.. rasa mcm nak nangis sekali)
5. Saya suka sangat dengan watak dan lakonan Que Haidar.. scene favourite saya adalah bila filem dah habis.. apabila dia pakai baju ada teddy bear dan tunjukkan baju tersebut kepada Miasara.. dan Miasara bagi reaksi cutenyaaa.. cutenyaa... dan adegan seterusnya boleh buat saya guling2 ketawa...
6. Farid Kamil yang selama ini saya rasa biasa2 je tgk lakonan dia, kali ni wataknya sebagai Hisham banyak buat saya ketawa.. tak sangka lu pun pak lawak ye..
7. Norkhiriah sebagai Mun jelmaan minda Saadom adalah super cute.. masa mula2 sekali dia muncul tu memang kelakar..
8. Dialog2 selamba yang lawak...
   

Prof: Awak ni tak macam tukang2 kebun yang lain lah..
Dom: Ramai ke tukang kebun yang awak kenal?
Penonton: Hahahahahahahahahaha

Rasanya ada banyakkk lagi yang best.. tapi saya point out yang teringat dan nampak sahaja..




Apa Yang Saya Tak Suka Dengan Filem PAPADOM

1. Lakonan Liyana Jasmay kadang2 terover gedik lah.. akak meluat tauuu... akak lagi suka tengok Liyana dalam filem KAMI dulu... atau adakah kehendak watak yang buat Liyana menggedik camtu sekali?
   
2. Watak2 utama berasal dari Pulau Pinang. Tapi tak sekali pun dengar diorg sembang loghat Utagha no.. Macam orang KL je.. Awat lagu tu?
3. Kenapa watak anti-heroin biasanya typical? Jenis berlagak, cakap macam ala2 stylo.. taktau nak explain macam mana.. tapi tengoklah lakonan Scha dan bandingkan dengan watak2 musuh heroin dalam cerita2 yang lain.. lebih kurang je kan..
   

Macam tak banyak benda yang saya tak suka dengan filem ni.. jadi cukuplah sampai kat sini je..

Apapun, PAPADOM ialah sebuah filem yang menghiburkan,
dan saya rasa macam nak tengok lagi sekali(mungkin jugak berkali2) dengan hubby saya pulak..
Silalah tengok filem ni bersama orang2 tersayang, mungkin anda akan lebih menghargai family anda selepas ini.

I did buy their cds and downloaded their music videos for my personal collection...
I wonder where did I put them..

But too bad they split up..
Mark and Travis come up with a new band called +44, whereas Tom with Angels & Airwaves... but to me, neither of them interest me as Blink 182..

Me + Kanda watched a movie last nite, which is one of the best movie in my personal list so far...
Personally I gave my rating 4.9 out of 5.. I have to minus 0.1 because of too many foul language, which made me cover my tummy with a pillow, just in case becoz my baby already can hear at this stage.. haha..

"Gone Baby Gone", the story is simply about a missing child in the neighbourhood. Tapi cerita sebenar di sebalik 'kehilangan' budak berumur 4 thn si Amanda dikupas satu-persatu sepanjang cerita ni.. Banyak benda yang tak disangka2, very unexpected, yang membuatkan aku menonton cerita ni dengan emosi yang bercampur2.. kejap sedih, kejap geram, kejap menyampah, kejap kesian, kejap saspen.. sampai ada masanya meleleh gak air mata aku bila part2 yg aku rasa touching giler..

Aku xmau komen pasal jalan cerita yg bg aku cukup superb, cuma yg byk membuat aku terkenang2 citer ni adalah satu scene yg mana hero kena buat decision... kalau dia decide utk buat benda yg betul, mungkin decision yg dia buat bukanlah yg terbaik untuk Amanda... tapi kalau dibiarkan, mungkin Amanda akan dpt kehidupan yg lebih baik, tapi itu bukanlah perkara yang sepatutnya dia lakukan.. Kat sini kita dpt tgk si hero berperang antara pendiriannya dgn emosi.. Aku bet kalau org perempuan (termasuklah aku jugak), dah semestinya akan bertindak ikut emosi.. Oh aku x reti laa nk explain apa perasaan aku tapi cerita ni mmg best + wajib tgk..

Oleh itu, cepat2lah download kt internet atau gi cari cd kt kedai2 video sbb kat wayang dh x tayang dh citer ni.. :)

Latest Addiction: The Shopaholic Series

Ok, I admit.. I'm a bit outdated.
The very first Shopaholic novel came out in year 2000, and I only read in 2008!
Haha.. poor me..!
I knew few friends who really like reading the novels, but I didn't bother to have a look at them.. after all, I'm not into reading novels back then.. I spent very little time on reading.. except reading magazines and comics.. hehe..

But one day, I was browsing the ChicLit section at Kinokuniya, trying to find some titles that might interest me.. (Actually I went there to find a crochet book, but then end up at ChicLit section.. hehe)..

Before this, I have collections of Marian Keyes's and Julia Llewellyn's (I'll share about their books in other entries later).. and I couldn't find any of theirs at that moment.. Ok, so I lied, actually I found a few Marian Keyes's, but somehow they don't interest me.. and I remember I used to have a book by Sophie Kinsella, entitled "The Undomestic Goddess".. and I really love that novel! Unfortunately the book was destroyed in a flood incident at my house, together with my other 2 favourites, "Diary of a Mad Bride" & "Diary of a Mad Mother-To-Be", both by Laura Wolf.. Huhu..

Then, there they were, a row in the rack.. the Shopaholic series.. Okay, which one should I read first? I had no idea which is the first one, so it took me about half an hour to take a peek of each book and made a decision. Finally, I grab "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and paid at the counter. (I just found out that the first UK edition actually entitles "The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic").. And that is how I got addicted to the series..

It was such an enjoyable reading, funny, with LOTS of hilarious parts in the novel, that made me hardly put it down/aside.. I want to finish the book ASAP! I need to know the ending! I must know how Becky set her life back on track..

Well, here's my personal favourite part.. the one where she went for an interview.. she lied a bit in her resume, where she mentioned that she can converse well in Finnish languange (which she knew none of the word except "Hallo"). Came to the interview expecting for a broker post, somehow the job interview was actually for a post in a bank.. which will be conducted in Finnish language... and she only found out about that when she was already there! Telling herself that she can handle it, she ended up in a board room full of people who speaks Finnish, and when the person interviewing her started talking, guess what she did? She just said "Hallo", turned back and run away for her life!!! Run, Becky, run!!! Hahahahaha.. Can you imagine? Hahahahahahhahahaha...
Moral of the story: Don't you ever-ever-ever put something that you're not good at (or even don't know) in your resume!! Hahahahahaha...

But simply put it this way.. I finished it in 2 days, and next week I went back to Kinokuniya to get another 2, "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" and "Shopaholic Ties The Knot".. I made new record(for myself) by finishing "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" in 1 day! And now I'm enjoying the moment Becky's planning for her wedding in "Shopaholic Ties The Knot".. (I already have a plan in my head to go to Kinokuniya this afternoon and get the last 2 in the series, "Shopaholic & Sister" and "Shopaholic & Baby").. Hehehe..

Oh btw, I just googled about the shopaholic series, and found out that there will be a movie coming out in 2009, based on Confessions of A Shopaholic! Can't wait!

Hari tu aku korek2 segala laci sbb cari Bio Oil yg ntah mana aku letak ntah.. which is later found by my Kanda kat bawah plastik cotton bud dlm laci yg plg common.. aku nih cari pakai hidung gamaknya.. dh kena bebel + gelak sekali ngan Kanda.. haha malu aku..

Time aku dok selongkar2 tu terjumpa satu folder cd lama.. mp3 collections yg aku burn masa study kat MMU dulu.. lama giler ahh.. tp excited betul aku jumpa balik lagu2 lama yg aku layan dulu.. brings back all the memories of the good old times.. waaahhh... dah baper thn ekk.. aku start study kat Unitele Melaka thn 1998, next year pindah ke MMU Cyber then grad thn 2001... pejam-celik-pejam-celik dh 7 thn.. rindunya aku zaman dulu2..!!

tapi oleh sebab citer L: Change The World nih memang fokus kat L semata2 (even hari2 terakhir sebelum kematian), aku sanggup bayar tiket wayang tau... hehehe...
